Duplicate content and SEO Ranking

Here is a Free Tip and Tool on how to make your website rank higher. Most people hire an SEO firm or just copy and paste content from another source for their website content and blog content. This is considered duplicate content, which can trigger ranking penalties on Google from all the recent updates that Google has performed over the years. Most duplicate penalties are due to too much duplicate content on a page of your website, which can cause Google to mark the page as duplicated content. When Google finds duplicate content the page will rank very low in the search engine or not even get listed at all.

Here are some tools to identify if you have duplicate content in your website. Copyscape.com is a great tool to start with. If you have a competitor that has copied your content, then the first place the content is posted to gets the credit and the other get ignored. This is only true if Google has index your website page before your competitor duplicated it. Otherwise, if there is a post date, then Google might be smart enough to go off of that date or might disregard both places with the duplicate content. I don't usually see this.
